I am in need of a program that would allow me to preview and batch rename my RAW files. Currently I use Adobe Bridge and it works great that for that purpose. My problem is that in order to install Bridge I need to install Photoshop. Photoshop takes up so much HD space and runs slow on my tiny PC. I have this little laptop for traveling. I am running OSX BTW. Anyone has any ideas?

Renamer is what I use and it works very well. I use it to rename my RAW files and any other files I need by batch. For instance, I always replace the "IMG" in my 5d RAW files with "5d_20090602" - 20090602 being the date of the shoot... I keep the shot number assigned by the camera as the end number: 5d_yearmonthday_number

How do you preview your files with Renamer?

Not sure why you would want to preview your files before renaming. But my workflow is: Download RAW files from card into folder named by date of shoot (2009_05_29-prom-24-5th-avenue); Rename RAW files (as mentioned above); Open and review RAW files in DPP (or your choice of s/w Lightroom, for instance); Back-up files on disk or...; Delete dead shots. My aim is to get the files off the card ASAP, back-up, and then review.

I want to preview the file so I know what it is so I can give it a correct name. How can I name it if I don't know what it is? I don't just want to assign a date to them or generic names.
