Shot a wedding this past weekend with my partner in crime and he was shooting a 5DmkII. I told him to Shoot in sRAW the whole time except for the formals because I didn't want to have to store and process a crazy amount of 21mp files. Well I began processing the images and today I got to the 5DmkII files and had issues. I'm using Aperture for my RAW work and it doesn't read them. It will read the full RAW files from the mkII, but not the sRAW files. I tried Adobe DNG converter, but it won't read the sRAW files either. I asked my buddy to give me the software disc that came with the camera, but before I go that route, I thought about Lightroom. I have been considering downloading the LR trial to see if I like it better than Aperture. I have a few questions for you all and here they are:
1.) Will the software that comes with the 5DmkII process (adjust exposure, white balance etc) the sRAW files and let me export them to jpegs? (I'll be surprised if this is a no)
2.) Will Lightroom read the RAW and sRAW files from the 5DmkII, even if I don't have PSCS4 with the latest version of Camera RAW? (I'm using PSCS2) |

I'd assume so but never installed the software.

Yes. Starting with version 2.0...so if you're downloading the trial, you should be fine. The old version won't work. I use LR2.3 and CS3. |

The camera comes with Digital Photo Professional, which does allow you to convert raw files into jpgs, tiffs, etc. I don't use this program since I have Lightroom 2 but I'm pretty sure it handles sRAWs.
