Question - photoshop elements and text

Ok, for the two challenges with text--I've added text in elements, but they always look choppy.

How do I get smooth fonts?

1. Some fonts only look good in certain sizes; try different sizes
2. Some images only look good at certain magnifications -- e.g. 25%, 50% -- rather than at "fit to screen"
3. In the Type palette, turn on/check box for Anti-aliasing (this should probably be the first thing, if it isn't on already)

4. Install Adobe Type Manager (if available)

doesn't adobe type manager just affect how it looks on my screen? Not how it's rendered?

I've been using it for so long I can't remember. It's probably the anti-aliasing thing though ...

If not, you should post some examples -- put them in your Workshop or a hidden folder and send me a link if you don't want them out in public.

Well, this was my demotivational--but I'm not sure I checked anti-aliasing.

My auto ad is better, but it's still not completely clean.

I'm pretty sure anti-aliasing was not on the type on that poster. That, and the small image size/small number of available pixels, combine to give you the "chunky" look.

Try it again with the anti-aliasing turned on. Also, try setting the type in the full-sized image and then reducing everything together, or else set the type after reducing the image (setting the type at 100% size) if the former method is what you used already. One or the other method should look better, depending on the font and image combination.
