I can't read a card on my PC: error message 'the file or directory is corrupted and not accessible'. I can see all the images on the camera, and there is one that says 'corrupted data'. I have tried to delete that image on the camera, but it says 'protected' even when I turn the protection off. I don't mind getting replacing the card, but I'd really like to recover the other photos. Is there any way of doing this? I tried the free download from 'Data Recovery', but it doesn't look like it has recovered them - it says ‘rendering failed’ and ‘embedded thumbnail ignored’.

Can anyone help!

Are you using a card reader or just connecting the camera?

I'd suggest the reader route and use recovery software to get at the files on the card. I use Sandisk RescuePro (came with one of the cards I have) but there are others.

And if you are reading it in a card reader, try transferring it with the camera, which can obviously see it.
