Very nice - I particularly like the one by the Eiffel Tower

I really like the base. Nice color, fab composition.

My wife and I will spend 10 days in France -- 3 in the countryside at a friends, the balance in Paris -- and we're leaving this Thursday.

Anyone have suggestions about "anti-tourist" things to do? I'm all for seeing one or two cathederals, but I want to do something interesting and well away from the crowds.

To get a great view of Paris go to the Tour Montparnasse, NO tourists there (They all go to the top of the Eiffel Tower) Only locals, Fantastic view of the whole of Paris from the top deck of the 60th floor (I think). Do not miss the Gardens of Monet, you'll have to drive there from Paris or get on a tour. Well worth it.

Crowds are inevitable in Paris...Tourists everywhere because everywhere you go in Paris there is a major landmark or monument or museum. And you have to Catch a Show at the Moulin Rouge - no photos allowed inside though, you have to checkin your camera at the entrance.

As doctornick says, crowds are everywhere. Here are a couple of suggestions.

Buy a day pass on the Batobus: //www.batobus.com/
and you will have a ringside seat for super pictures of many landmarks. And it's cheap! Then, head for the Museum of Modern Art (George Pompidou Musee) and ride the escalators up to the top. Fine Paris overview pictures from there, and if you have the stamina stay and enjoy the usually wonderful modern art to be seen. The building itself is a photographic joy as is the nearby kinetic sculpture pool.
