hey everyone i m in need of some help, ive just had a question to any one who can help,
ive been using lightroom 2 and i was wondering about the file handleing when importing photos and my question is while doing this witch would be better to do copy to a new location and import or to
copy photos as a DNG (Digital Negitive and import
i saw this and really dont know with would be better for photo?
can anyone help and maybe explan whats the diff?

| I believe a DNG file is not valid if you are asked for the original for a challenge submission. I just copy to a new folder and import. |

Specifications for, and benefits of DNG are discussed in detail here.
Specific to dpchallenge, however, as rmezzo mentions, converted DNG files are not accepted as originals. Some cameras actually record DNG, and those DNG files would be accepted, but if you are converting any other format to DNG at import-time, those DNGs are not acceptable for validation.
So, answering the question of "if it's better" or not is really going to be up to you. If you need to submit an original for verification here at dpc, you must submit the actual original file; not a converted DNG.
