I thought it would be interesting to see just what so many different people with so many different tastes and interests find "appealing" in a shot. Would you say you prefer landscape, still life, stock photos, natural shots, or shots that have been obviously set up for a particular subject? Color or black and white? I think this is what we all would like to know, so that we could see what the majority likes. Then maybe we could improve our techniques and style and continue to learn and grow into different areas we may not had ventured before. Sounds like star trek doesn't it? :) |

Landscapes, but I feel I am in a minority.
Gimmicky out of the ordinary shots seem well liked here, I feel. |

Oh, you have such a way with words! I could not have put that better myself. So ... why do we see so few such photos on DPC one has to ask.

I enjoy nature photography quite a bit. Seems like that stage is always the most creative. I've enjoyed many different genres though - I think DPC has been expanding my horizons. What I really enjoy is a picture that is not only well composed, but also contains a "wow" factor. Something that rewards a second glance, yet doesn't clutter the image. Tough to explain, but I know it when I see it. The last three challenge winners have had it for sure. |
