First of all, thank-you to all the helpful people on this site. You all rock! I have a friend that took a couple photog classes at local com. college, we shoot together and discuss a lot, he tells me I'm learning more, and faster than he did in his class. As for my question, I've been checking out some tutoriols and stuff, and I just don't want to use something illegal, or not use something that would help me. Could you please just tell me, are the following allowed in basic editing: greyscale mode to go b/w, duo/tri/quad tones, channel mixer, variations, curves? I know it's all in the rules, I've gone over them, but I is just a little dense maybe :-( and I just want to be sure.
thanks :-) |

Make sure you don't use any selection tool like:
Magic wand
Lasso
Dropper
Brush tool
Burn/Dodge
Filters except for the ones listed in the rules (NeatImage, etc.)
Like in levels you can use the manual leveling but you can't use the dropper to select your white, gray, or black point.
If you have to move the cursor to click on the image itself most likely it's illegal for basic editing.

Fadoi, please note, you made this statement before in this thread and after my question on it, it was confirmed to be incorrect.

You can use the dropper in levels :)
All those techniques are legal taterbug, as long as they are applied to the whole image.

Thanks, I stand corrected. I guess my pictures in basic editing will have more contrast now. Cool :) |
