Hello all,

I new here and I wanted to just say hi to everyone. I'm a semi-pro photographer living in Seoul, South Korea. I take photographs of the professional gaming scene here (mainly StarCraft, but also a lot of other Esports.) for Korean gaming companies/teams and foreign websites. I've been working for them for a year and two months now, but I have no prior photographic training so it has all been very much experimental upon my part.

My kit is modest (Nikon D40X with a Sigma EX 70-200mm lens.) but I'm hoping to upgrade to a Canon EOS5D with 70-200mm lens (what my korean peers use.) by July. I find Canon is more suited to the low lighting conditions we encounter at the venues I work inside.

I love portrait photography and have had the pleasure of working with some of Korea's most famous gamers. I also like to photograph floral and urban life in Seoul in my spare time as well as concerts and festivals. I have a fixation on colors and textures. I edit my photos using photoshop 7 and ifranview currently.

I'm hoping to learn a lot of new techniques and ideas for poses etc from the people here. I am in a somewhat unique position because most of the people (99%) that I photograph speak little to no English and my Korean is basic at best - so we have unusual experiences figuring out poses and moods.

Here are a few examples of my photo shoots;

This is Lim Yohwan - he is Korea's most famous professional StarCraft player. He has 600,000 fans. I photographed him earlier this year;

This gamer is nick-named Lomo. He is very popular because of his cute image;

I love to play around with focus and concentrating on pieces of the gamers which are so intergral to their daily work;

Lastly - this is from a photoshoot yesterday with a new face called Jo Byungse;

I hope you like my work and please feel free to friend me/check out my portfolio. My official site is @ www.nevergg.net :)

Welcome to DPC, I am sure you will have fun here.
Just curious , why not upgrade to the D700 ? it has a great ISO performance.

Thanks :) I'm upgrading to that specific model/lens because it is what the other photographers use - I've seen lots of examples of their excellent work during our time together and seen as it's a tried and tested camera that works perfectly for the environment I photograph in most often I decided it was the best choice. I'm hoping to buy a lot of Canon's different lenses too - to achieve more interesting effects.
