Well, when something political is posted, or something that gets people worked up, what does everyone expect? |

Something more respectable than putting "President" in quotation marks. |

President is a flexible term where Obama is concerned. I'm sure you thought pleasant thoughts of Bush. It's how I feel. And it's still a free country - while it lasts...

No, it's not. Obama *IS* the president, as was Bush before him, regardless of how you feel. It's an actual fact, not "technically" so. |

Shannon, I'm not going to continue with the technicalities or explain every nuance of my wording. I don't consider Obama to be MY President, technicalities aside. He may be THE President or A President but not MINE. I just flat out don't acknowledge him. If you can't beat 'em, ignore 'em. OK? Lighten up for Pete's sake. You're free to worship (or whatever) Him for the next 100 days and beyond. Just don't begrudge me my feelings on the subject. For the third time, it's a free country.
You (or someone else) made your point by moving it to the Rant section, so here it sits. My ranting is done, and I feel soooo much better now. :o)
Now back to some photography... |

Because if you close your eyes, plug your ears and yell "LA LA LA LA" loud enough he won't exist. OK I can see how that makes sense in a on the schoolyard type of way.

Is this where democracy breaks down and things utterly fall apart? Sheesh... "Not MY president," indeed! That's right in the same league as "I'm gonna take my ball and go home!"
Welcome to the playground of the twilight of Western Civilization, LOL.

I bet I can guess who you voted for.
However, I am not American so can't really say how well he is doing on domestic issues, but in the last hundred days America has actually started to be `liked` again over here in Europe. America has had a lot of bad press and it was the `cool` thing to do to be anti-american(not me, I love you, you mad bloodthirsty buggers), however the current vibe towards you, as a result of Obama, has certain swung the other way a wee bit - and his administration are trying to build on those good vibes. Personally I think the whole firm but fair approach is a lot more endearing than the "we will give those Iraqis their freedom even if it means we have to kill every last one of them" approach. So from an image point of view, he is doing wonders for you guys.
And his wife is turning into a legend over here, which is scary as the Daily Mail is always on the lookout for it next Diana.
On another good note - the British Army have handed over control of Basra and are on their way out of Iraq! woohoo! |

I would think that if you're a citizen of a country the leader of that country is your leader, like it or not. Man, I'd love to be wrong! Then I could just ignore all Harper's and his minion's laws and regulations because he's not MY leader :D |

Robert, it's hard to take your ball and go home when you chose NOT to play in the first place! LOL I didn't vote for him and I don't have to acknowledge him. Why bother? He knows what's best for this country, and he'll do whatever the hell he wants to anyway. If I want to sit with my fingers in my ears and my hands over my eyes, I'll sit. It's the only way I can make it through this man's term.
Obama does not represent ANYTHING I believe in, and if he says he does, he's lying. Therefore he does not represent me. Period. I already acknowledged he was TECHNICALLY the President. OK?
Now I'm officially done ranting, and I don't need the last word. This playground is officially open to anyone else who dares speak against the One who has been in office 101 days. I'm sure there will be a televised speech next week. Stay tuned! LMAO

ever hear of photoshop? would have been much cheaper, and less controversial. we should have a contest to see who could do the best rendering of what the administration was trying to do there. was it the statue of liberty and air force 1? how hard could it be to digitally add those together?
i gotta be honest, it makes me wonder if the gov't isn't really telling the truth about it. why not just create some art with the subject you have in mind instead of flying jumbo jets around nyc? why take the chance of causing a panic? there's no way anyone in this country would not think about 9/11 when considering something like that, is there? |

to be fair, this kind of "Not MY president" talk was the norm from 2000-2008 about bush - think every person who ever said "I'm gonna move to Canada if he gets elected", and that kind of thing. like she said, it's an expression of feelings. you happen to feel differently - does that make you the playground bully in the scenario? that doesn't sound too fair for either of you

Ahh, but it is technically so. Were it not, Obama
would not be president. No matter what the definition of *IS*, is. LOL (Thanks for bringing plenty of popcorn BeeCee.) |

Well MY point, and you danged well know it, is that when you participate in a democracy and then decide, since you didn't vote for the winner, that he's not *your* leader, then you're contributing to the disintegration of that democracy, which after all depends on the willingness of its people to be governed.

Since this is in rant now....... I believe the person who should be responsible for this cluster is the one in charge of security. I read that the NYPD was informed of the flight but "somebody" wanted to keep it a secret. So they were informed not to make the flight public knowledge.
Now. Were the flight announced 10 days ahead of time in all the North East regional news outlets, and... a big thing made about how is was Obamas idea to honor those who died at ground zero by having airborne videos of AF1 orbiting ground zero, Well.... then it would have been a rousing success. Gobs of praise for the idea would be sliding all over Barack. I think he needs to cut off at the knees, whomever didn't arrange for this. It shows that his administration still has vestiges of the non-transparent one before it. |

Yes, I was being sarcastic as well. I meant it must comfort you to think that Obama supporters are people who think of him as some sort of divinity or "the annointed One", rather than as people who rationally chose a decent leader.

Please replace democracy with republic. And who knows, maybe the current system needs to disintegrate. I'm pretty sure it's degraded to the point that it no longer serves the average citizen.
But it ain't gonna be pretty when it happens. Wouldn't it be ironic, while out and about the world, building nations with the use of violence, our own nation was lost. |

Although I started this with stating it was "moronic"....actually that is what I was looking for, some photography....
'who' made this political and all about the Presidents, past and present??
And I was not disappointed, glad2badad
tossed in President Clinton....can't have any conversation without someone bringing THAT up again...geez...
I personally wouldn't have talked to President Bush if he was sitting next to me in a bar.....but I respect that he was THE President.

A good reminder that, no matter how high the approval ratings or percentage of people who think the country is headed in the right direction, you can't please everyone. Even now, there are people in the world who still long for the "good old days" of Stalin, Pol Pot, Mussolini, etc. Obama's goals of government honesty, transparency & accountability, strong education, affordable healthcare, international diplomacy, personal freedom and equality, energy independence and forbidding torture may not represent ANYTHING you believe in, but you're as free to hold that opinion as I am to be thankful most people do not.
