| My Nikon 35mm f2 is stuck to my D50. That's not a complete disaster because I love the lens, but I am quite worried. It operates perfectly and has been for a while, this is the first time I've tried to take it off in a month or so. It feels a little like the lens release button isn't doing anything any more. Anyone got any ideas? |

| I you try Bear's idea TAKE ALL the batteries out and dont fire it up for a good hour after you take it out of the fridge, condensation can kill the camera!! |

Shoulda said, "...in a freezer baggie"... Removing batteries is a good idea, though, yup... Remember, a refrigerator is a VERY dry place, oddly enough. Things dehydrate in there, ya know. In any case, the last time I had to do this was with a film Nikon, a LONG time ago. It's possible, I suppose, that it's riskier with an electronic camera, so... no warranty implied or expressed :-) But it DID work for me, back in the day...

I'll give it a go when I get back home. It feels like the catch mechanism is totally bust, but definitely worth a try.

Well, I tried putting it in the fridge, but I'm afraid it's not made any difference. I suppose, until I feel rich enough to take it to a shop, I shall have a lovely fixed 50mm lens equivalent camera.
Thanks for the advice. I think it might have worked if the mechanism was stuck, the contraction and expansion might have freed it, but I think whatever the button links to is completely detached. I'm not getting any feedback when I push it down.
That will teach me to carry the camera around in the bottom of an unpadded bag filled with books for weeks. |
