Was thinking of picking up a polarizing filter for my Nikon 50mm f/1.8
Was just wondering if anyone has had experience with either the Nikon 52mm Circular Polarizing II Filter or the Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizing Standard Coated Screw On Filter

Which one is cheaper? There is alot to be said about using cheap filters and their lack of quality but also alot to be said about paying extra for the same exact item because it has the Nikon name printed on it. I have one or two cpl filters for each lens I own, a couple of Hoya filters a couple of promasters a tiffen and a bunch of kenko filters, Results are about the same with all of them. The Tiffen might be the stand out in the group but I use that the least because it is for a lens I barely touch. It was by far the most expensive filter I have bought to date.

I'm gonna throw out here that you should look at the Cokin system, where a single filter will fit all your lenses, and you'll only have to buy the mounting rings ($10 each) for the different filter diameter sizes.
I have a Cokin CPL that I use extensively and I love the results. I also love being able to stack it and two ND filters all in the holder at once, and move it from one lens to another as I'm shooting. Easy, and a huge savings over buying a complete filter set for each lens.

The nikon is a high quality multi coated filter. It's more comparable to the Hoya HMC multi coated polarizer. |

I'll look into the Cokin Filters as well.
The Hoya is almost half the price of the Nikon.
