Dear Mr. Admin(s),
i have done a search on this subjet but i couldnt find anybody posting about his so here i am, but if there have been threads about this than i am sorry to bring it up one more time,
i would like to see an integrated chat room where people can exchange ideas and talk about photography and/or everyhthing else.. i am online till late at night and from what i have observed there are people online all the time on the site (at least 10 at any given time).. and a chat room would be a perfect place for people to interact with eachother..
i have absolutely no idea if it is an easy thing to integrate a chat room to a website of this scale.. but if it can be done.. would you please consider it..pretty please:)
i would personally love to chat with people on a much faster level than the current message board provides and it may create a inspiring environment for everyone who wants to learna dn all..
thanks for listening...

No way. It took me long enough to quit the addiction of that chat room, I used to spend hours there :))) |

The problem with chatrooms is finding one that everyone can use, regardless of browser, OS, or firewall settings, hence the DPC Fanatics chat (which I happen to run) is html-based and works in any browser. Other solutions (of which I've looked into many) either require certain ports (eg IRC's 6660-6669 & 7000) to be open, which many work firewalls block, or only work in one browser/OS - IE on windows, for the most part.
Also, the fact that the chatroom is not officially part of the main site means that the chat doesn't have to follow the same rules, and a user's conduct can be a bit less constrained than an integrated site - plus, if you get banned from the chat (a very rare occurance), that currently has no affect upon your access to DPC...

It sounds like a good idea - especially for cutting down on the number of trivial questions that appear on the forums (e.g. some of mine) that won't mean much to anyone except the person who asked. A chat room would be good just as long as the topics of conversation aren't too interesting, if you see what I mean, because then a whole thread could be talked out in a few minutes and never get posted in the forums, so people who could have benefited from reading it miss out.
