This morning I saw on the news that The President is getting a new Blackberry because the one he had was too personal. Too many people had this phone number and so on but this morning fox news said that his blackberry was almost ready...
Does anyone else think that their personal phone should be as secure as the Presidents as far as people hacking into it, stealing photos, call logs, stored numbers and so on???

I'm very sure the Prez' BB is super secure...at least I'd hope so.
I don't think ours will EVER be that secure. Should they be that secure? I'm not sure. If it means that no ones phone could be tapped or located under ANY circumstances...I think I'd say...I don't want them to be all as secure as the Prez.

Considering that in instances such as this the security is left with the end user, I am convinced that no what level of security was afforded these units, they would not be secure for very long.
A prime example of poor security is the personal computer. Unless stringent controls and password protection is maintained, the security can readily be bypassed.

Well I'm not saying that the presidents BB shouldn't be secure but mine should be secured to the point where someone can't hack into it. Right? |

You would be hard pressed to guarantee that your encryption system is not accessible via a "Back Door" application, so I seriously doubt that the authorities would not be able to circumvent the security on your personal BB... but I could be wrong.

i'm surprised his blackberry doesn't require a smart card or something similar. Read a bit more. |

Well what I mean in my earlier post is that if phones were SO SECURE that none could ever be hacked, tracked or tapped (at least with a court order) then I think it may be an overall very big obstacle in any sort of police investigation.

lol well I'm sure that at first it would be odd but trust me after some time it would be second nature. I used to work in IT for a health provider company and we had to lock our computers before we stood up for anything. You do get used to it but I see your point. Depending on the area of field you work on. Obviously the white house could use something like this but now I'm a full time photographer that works alone out of my own house so there isn't a need for me to have this security what so ever but just knowing that someone can get into my phone bugs me... |
