I just used my brand new D700 for a long model shoot today, for the first time. Everything on the camera was looking great. The only problem is, when I went to put them in Lightroom it did its usual thing of copying and importing, but no images came up whatsoever, and the end message was "files are either unsupported or damaged".
Please help, this is bad.

Did you check the Adobe site to see if an upgrade or whatever is needed to support the D700 RAW files? I suspect that could solve the problem.

No I haven't but will, thanks for the idea. One relief is that I'm able to import into Bridge, but I'm so used to using Lightroom that I want to keep it that way if possible. At least the files DO exist!

What Deb said - I bet if you update your software all will be fine.

That's annoying. I hate when software people do that. But it is nice software... Charge a client a wee bit more to cover it. :-)

Ok, problem fixed, not panicking any more. $200 later the photos are loading into LR2. Thanks Melethia and CEJ!

Oh dear, the problems continue. Are any D700 users able to use CS3? I'm getting messages saying I have to have CS4 - that couldn't possibly be the case, could it?

Yes, same problem if you are trying to load RAW files into CS3. If you export from Lightroom to a format like TIFF or JPEG, then you will be fine.

ETA: While I too hate that I have to constantly upgrade to support new camera bodies, the reason that's necessary is because the camera manufacturers insist on proprietary RAW formats. Every time they change bodies, the format changes, and presto change-o, all the software developers have to write new interpreters.

This really isn't fair. Now all the photos that Lightroom 2 took from LR1 have disappeared, it doesn't seem to be able to find them and I now have to do it manually. There's only 25000 of them.....doesn't Adobe think we have anything better to do than spending money on them and then running around fixing problems that they create for us?
I'm going to bed. Maybe the fairy godmother will find them while I sleep for a change. Grrrrrrrr.
