Yesterday I went to the local university and walked around campus to take some pictures of the buildings. I was wondering if for any reason I wanted to sell prints of the university would there be any laws that I would be breaking? Do you have to have permission to sell prints of university buildings? It's not a nationally known university.
I know that if you use there logo you need consent but I figured since this is a visible structure that it should be OK. Anyone with experience in this subject? |

You would probably need a property release to do so. |

You might need a property release to post them as stock images or for mass reproduction (calendar, greeting card, T-shirt), but probably not if you just want to sell individual "fine art" prints.
If the buildings were erected before about 1988, then they themselves should not be copyrighted. Especially if it's a public university, and if you took the shots from a public area, you are probably OK. |

None of the pics are from the interior so they were all shot from a public area and the ones I took a picture of were all definitly erected before 1988. I do however want to take some shots of some newer buildings also so I guess I'll have to look into that. And they will all only be sold as prigs only. |

I think as long as you sold them as "prigs" only...you shoudn't have a problem. ;-)

That's the only downfall of the otherwise sweet iPhone! Don't be jealous of my lack of spellcheck skills.
edit- because it's cool to edit!
