Can anyone tell me how to change the aspect ratio on a Nikon D300? I've got a shoot this afternoon and for the life of me can't find how to set my camera for a 5:4 aspect ratio. I find dozens of sites saying I can "easily" do it, but none that actually say HOW. Help!!!! |

Probably in the manual
eta: I'm downloading it, and I'll have a look.

Just keep everything within the curvy lines in the viewfinder, that is pretty much 4x5. |

Curvy lines in the viewfinder are always good...reminds me of last weekend's shoot with a girl I know. |

I looked in the manual and could only find things on cropping the image AFTER it has been shot using a crop aspect ratio. According to websites I've read, the camera was supposed to have a 5:4 shooting mode where the viewfinder "magically" shrinks to only show you what fits in the 5:4 aspect. |

Yeah, that's all I could find, too. Sorry. |

Thanks for looking. Perhaps it was a feature that was PLANNED for the camera but never happened. All the sites I found talking about it said "the camera WILL have that feature" but none talking about how it DOES have that feature. |

you can't shoot at 5:4, but you can crop photos in-camera under the Retouch -> Trim menu |

As Jazzmik says,
go into trim in re-touch,find your pics you wish to convert and hit (ok)
then now all you do is rotate your command dial( on the back upper right)
then you have the choice 3:2,4:3 then finally 5:4
Great Camera ! |
