Hey Guys. Wondering if any of you do exercises to get your creative juices flowing? I've been looking for a way to get this to happen... I've tried writing ideas down then going out and shooting those ideas, but that hasn't worked so well. So what do you guys do?

Think your method is fine but be patient and continue though you might find your experiments dissapointing.
In some general photography books there are also some exercises which can be educating.
And of cours just try to do something you´ve never done before and experiment with you camera.
But as I said in the begining, the results doesnt have to be good every time and maybe most of the time they are very bad. But once in avile you might stuble into something original and good. |

take a long and boring drive alone
have a job where thinking is not required (boring job?)
go over in your mind the challenge or other 'problem' reight before you go to sleep. have a pad and pencil ready..you should have some inspiration by morning.
alter your state of mind...
watch cartoons and talk with little kids.

Good point.
Think also that looking into what thous famous photographers have done is fine and maybe even try to copie some of that, just for practising. Gives you a change to improvise out of some base. |

Take walks or short drives. Look at everything with a photographic eye. I even got the neighbors looking for cool stuff to photograph. hehee...

My wife does it all the time now. She says, "Hey that would make a great picture."

I look through my favorite galleries in DPChallenge and get ideas from others, then I try to learn how to do some of those photos. Once I learn the technique, I start thinking of my own ideas to use with that technique... it spirals outward into a bunch of ideas that I can do... usually comes out nothing like the image that inspired me, and that's good! It means I got "creative" with a technique!
Good luck. |

Push-ups and jumping jacks, but then I'm usually too tired afterward to take any pictures.

This sentence is interpretable in a number of ways ... and I doubt that's an accident.
