I have the D40...I was wondering if anyone knew of a fish eye lens that would be compatible with it. For a reasonable price also.
peace and blessings--

This is the one that I hope to get soon:
Nikon AF Fisheye - Nikkor 10.5mm f2.8
This costs around $700 USD at B&H. B&H Link
Edited to include cost.

See if you can find the 8mm Peleng. I got mine for about $200. It's reasonably good as far as fisheye lenses go and you can tweak it to focus super close. |

just read this from the B&H link so you know AF is not supported by D40 and D60 cameras.

they used to go for about that... after they got popular, prices went up. I agree that this might be a good choice, but do recognize that you will have black corners where the image circle doesn't cover.
there are some other third-party fisheye lenses out there as well. Keep in mind that you do want something shorter than the 15 to 16mm range if you want a real "fishy" look. |

D I Y version.
I use a 15 Sigma, an older manual focus f2.8 most of the time, and also have the 2.8-16mm Nikkor Ai. I keep the Sigma in my bag. I don't know if the Ai lenses will work with the D40 or not.

i dunno...i guess something around 500-ish US$ plus shipping, but i guess that's because we pay more for this kinda stuff here in europe than you do in the us...;) |

I expect that the increased US prices might also have something to do with the weaker dollar. |
