Do any of the DSLR's out there use an eye-control system to select the focus point, as in the Canon Elan 7E film camera? I suspect the answer is 'no'. Anybody else want to lobby Canon to include it on their DSLR's? I find manually setting the focus point on my Rebel 2000 cumbersome and time consuming.

Was looking at the 300D today (another story) and the blurb stated it used eye-control.

I miss Eye Control. I had that in my old Canon 35mm SLR. My 10D doesn't seem to have it. I wish it did! I would use it all the time!!!

To select a particular ONE of the several autofocus points in the Rebel, you can use the speed dial to step through the available points. With Eye controlled focus, such as exists in Canon's high-end Film SLR's you control which autofocus point to use by looking at it ( the autofocus point ). So, you frame the shot as desired, then look at the AF point you want to use for focusing. Since different people have different eyes, you actually have to program the camera to recognize your eye movements.

Right now the only cameras that Canon makes with eye control focus are the Elan7n and the EOS-3. On the EOS-3 it comes standard. On the Elan7n it is an option offered and it is called the Elan7ne. E stands for eye control.

Here is the Canon link talking about how eye control works on the Elan7ne. It works the same on the EOS-3 but there are 45 points of auto focus on that camera instead of seven.
