| Great read. Looks like if Getty play out the "us or them" strategy they might loose their contractor relationship with their photographers. If the IRS puts the same effort into revising who is a contractor and who is an employee that they have in construction, it will change the market place for photographers radically. |

Yeah, this is part of the interest to me (as a long time IT contractor) above the destruction of this segment of the photg market.... They wanted cheaper so turned photg into "contractors" and now want to lock them in as employees.... As you say the IRS has taken a dim view of that in the past.
It's also interesting how AP is going to play the $$ from NFL against the public interest and news stuff - It was played badly in the recent past but AP has more of a stake in the reporting world and has a lot to lose if they try and embargo stuff the NFL does not want splashed over the place. |

The agencies do not disclose how much money they make from sports partnerships, but some signs indicate it isn̢۪t very much. Editorial photography (which includes all sports, news and entertainment images) made up just up 13 percent of Getty̢۪s revenue in 2007*.
