I support the idea. But make it basic editing - I don't know how many fake tilt-shifted landscapes I can handle.

Good point! Though I like those shots when done well, if you mean using this technique:

Yeah, that is the technique to which I was referring. I think they are very cool when done right, like the one you posted. I know Basic Editing will have to me thinking outside the box. To be honest, I would probably try my hand at the tilt-shift effect if it were Advanced. |

Isn't part of the point of these challenges to force people to try and work on a new technique? The challenges exist to help us learn new things ... not just as a venue for us to show off whatever skill/technique at which we're already accomplished. |

You have approached this challenge differently than I - You make a good point that I did not consider. Since I have never done the tilt-shift technique, A challenge would be a good venue to try it out. On the other hand, I think making the challenge basic editiing would make the challenge entries more varied - we would see a wider range of interpretations of the same topic. In the end its all personal preference. Either way it would be a fun challenge to work on. |

That would be fun - I just tried to do one of those very recently, and would dearly love to see more. I need inspiration and technical hints.
Here is my first attempt:

My suggestion was inspired by the original challenge, which was basic editing. A faux miniaturization challenge would be fun as well, but it should probably be called something besides "Miniature" ! |
