This "artist' chappie really is an arsehole

Da Vinci never handed his brush to Mona Lisa.

I've read several opinions that the Mona Lisa was created as a self-portrait... :)

I would have asked the models. I mean in reality, 30 images (3 photogs x 10 each) is way more than they would ever need from 1 shoot anyway.

Also, if you feel that this guy is a better photog than you, I would have let him stick around just to leech off technique and see his setups and such.

Plus, in the long run its more beneficial for everyone. You get to see his workflow and how he interacts with the models and lighting, the models get 3 more images to choose from, and the mua and stylist get potentially a noteworthy name in thier books as someone they have worked with.

His attitude may suck a little, but its also email, and tone doesn't carry well via text.

I have to admit I was thinking along these lines too.
For each photographer to professionally edit 30 photos can be a helluva lot of work. Ok if you have MUA's that cuts down on the editing a bit.

True the guy sounds like he is a bit stuck up, on the other hand when you have a business and a set of rules that you normally use for TFP shoots, he is probably thinking that if word gets out that he processed 10 photos for the models that others will expect him to do it for them too.

You said one of the other models invited him along. He / she must know him, so why not ask that model what sort of a person he is before kicking him out?

Wasn't the shoot yesterday? I wonder how it turned out.

we shot for 11.5 hours

Amazing work, I got over 1000 images, Dave got over 900, who knows on what Ken did.

It was long, hot and tiring, but so worth it and so worth not having that other man there.

we had about 7-8 changes of clothes and hair.

It was amazing.

Many photogs have their own set of rules and guidlines. Usually the better they are the more quirks they have. I tend to just respect whatever rules they have. Too bad you didn't get a chance to work with him. I find the ones that are the hardest to deal I learn the most from. It's just hard to crack their shell. Sounds like you had a hella of a day otherwise.

I don't see anything wrong with his reply, he just doesn't want to be as generous as the rest of the team...suits him, as long as its not in your T&A with the models (I assume it doesn't matter since they're friends of you and doing it all for free, anyway) to provide 10 prints each...let him join in and see what you can learn from him, take it as a networking oppurtunity.

Or if you just don't feel comfortable with him, tell him he's no longer invited. That could be bad exposure on you, however, so I'd be careful in a situation like this.
