No, it's only mean and a personal attack if you call them a butthead.

Saying that they're losers and have no life or sense of humor is perfectly acceptable.

HAMLET:
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;

Jeb, stating a general broad opinion is completely different than singling out one individual with name calling. I refer you to your own recent rant thread about negativity.

Speaking of that international base... is "April Fools" well known outside the U.S.? Or is it local custom, like Thanksgiving?

April Fools is international. In my country (The Netherlands) even the government/newspapers/television/radio and a lot other 'officials' are playing April Fools tricks on the people sometimes. But then, we can appriciate a good joke.

And about this hilarious, but harmless little DPC joke, even if Langdon had sent me a mail on April 1 at noon his time, I would have gotten it not sooner than April 2 my time, that's how far ahead I am from DPC time.

I'm really amazed about the negative reaction from some people on this well executed little joke.

What I learned today was the SC wants us to not take DPC seriously. Done! Communications from authorities at DPC are to be considered spoofs. Done! And, we should laugh off nefarious voting in challenges. Done! Now, I'll go find a website which I can take seriously. (All comments I've made today are a late April Fool's Joke! The last laugh....)

No kidding. Pranking on April Fool's warrants Never Again taking DPC seriously, considering all communications from DPC SC as spoofs....?

Over-react much?

Affirmative poll: 208 Non-affirmative: 268

I don't mind the prank which completed on April 1. I do think the SC should monitor the aberrant behavior in the voting arena. But, really, I don't care! It's pretty hard to take a "Jackass, the Movie" philosophy seriously. I think I have it narrowed down. If you thought the movie, "Jackass, the Movie" was funny (original, or any sequels), then you really liked the SC and Admin's April 2 "joke". Am I right? It's a generation and culture thing, I think! If you trip an old, crippled lady on the street, and she falls, do you laugh your ass$ off, or do you have compassion for her plight. (Again, all my comments today are belated April Fool's jokes. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!)

Tell me, in whatever passes for real life for you, are you by any chance an auditor?

So attacking a group, and stating that said group of people are somehow lacking is okay? And not generally mean and negative?

It's only bad if you jump one person and call 'em a name, right?

Sorry, but the complete lack of sensitiivty to the people who just didn't think the prank was funny is no more acceptable, and shame on the administration of this site for having no remorse for it.

Sure seems like a double standard to me.

The few people who were unfortunate enough to mention that they were caught out and a little taken aback by the foolishness were pretty much abused and denigrated, and on no level is that acceptable.

Nobody here has any more right to ascertain what isn't funny than any other, and if any one person felt slighted, then shame on you.

This site is not here to decide what's funny, it's a photoghraphy contest, right?

Yeah, nobody's holding a gun at anyone's head, and you're supposed to be a grownup and lighten up, but you know what?

It surely doesn't seem very considerate. You draw your own conclusions; I'm done now, but I'll stick with the stance that there's an apology due to anyone who was generally derided just because they don't share someone else's sense of humor.

Personally, I don't really care whether or not you think I'm the asshole in this.....I'll wear that hat if you feel I need to, but do you really want to be known as the place where if someone doesn't like being abused, tough shit?

I question whether or not the drama is actually being caused because of the joke and those caught by it at this point but rather the way members concerns were originally treated on this matter.

If you bump into someone on the street and apologize usually the drama ends right there, but if you tell the person to get out of your way, make a snide remark, or laugh at them then you should expect the issue to escalate.

If someone bumps into you with spaghetti sauce, it's an accident. If someone bumps into with disappearing ink, it's a prank. Shocked responses are expected, but in the latter case that's also the intent. You point out that the ink is gone- no harm was actually done, and hopefully you share a good laugh. Most people will either appreciate the joke or shrug it off with an "Eh, whatever," but there's always a few who will grumble no matter how harmless the gag. This site is for FUN. There are no real prizes or careers to be wiped out by a DQ. If you're worried that the disappearing ink might somehow stain your $1000 Armani suit, you're overdressed.

EDIT- tpyos

I just opened up my e-mail for the first time since yesterday afternoon and was surprised to see this thread still here. I thought surely this thing wasn't still about people getting upset about a prank.... surely not.

C'mon guys, funny or not... get over it.

Sheesh, like that's going to happen :P, might as well pass the popcorn... I've got a long boring day ahead of me.

Not at all, this is about people getting upset because other people are not getting upset over a prank. Completely different beast.
