I'm hoping to get deep into tracking and wildlife photography, and I think I may have just made a really, really big mistake. I'd purchased some mosquito repellant (non DEET based) and when I was doing more research to see if it was toxic, I noticed that it was a cat/dog repellant too. At least, that's what it was used as. The active ingredient is geranoil. The websites I've searched so far are of absolutely no help. Do any of you know whether gerenoil repels non-domestic predators like fox, bobcat, bears, etc?

If so, is there any way that I can get the scent out of my camera bag? Or, will it be sufficiently gone by the time I go to the wildlife management area again? (Friday, around mid-day ... around 48 hours from now. The entire product lasts 120 hours).

Thank you for your help!

LOL sorry to laugh... I have no idea about the product, but it sounds like my efforts to track wildlife, something always goes wrong on me.
I would suggest for the short term to just carry your camera/lens/tripod and maybe leave the bag behind... or perhaps put the bag in the wash?
You are in FL. I think you could go to a place like Green Cay Wetlands and no real tracking would be required.... there are lots of critters there. I doubt they would be repelled by the spray either.

Haven't looked too far but did see pictures of a dispenser in use in raptor cages so I guess it doesn't bother them.

Scientific studies say that DEET is more effective...
