my eldest son is a student and UND in Grand Forks ND they closed the "wall" I'm still not sure what that means today and I am also suprised that with the history of the town things are not more under control (but than I live in Northern MN and for the first time in the 14 years we have lived here there was running water over the highway I take to town and I did not think we have any more snow than other years.....) ..........so anyhow please keep your thought on hoping that Fargo and Grand does not repeat what happened several years bakc (you'd think they fixed that wouldn't you....) and if I get to go there this weekend I hope to find some cool floodless shots =0)

Cousin just sent 49 pics from the Mandan area...the ice flow is just huge!!! The pics are not great, but I'll save a post a few so some can visualize the winter floods up north. For those playing along at home, Mandan, ND is quite a bit south of Fargo, Grand Forks area. :)

I'm hoping it's less than expected. The farm I was raised on is a mile from the Red River north of Grand Forks. My sister lived there the last time it flooded and my siblings and I went back to help restore it after the house flooded in 1997. Now nobody is living there, though it is still in good shape, noone will be sandbagging it and my childhood home that we still own as a family may be ravaged by the floods and have to be torn down.

These have not been fixed...quality is poor, but you can see the size of the ice flow and how high the water is!!!

i take NO credit for these!! :P My second cousin took them.

my best friends last name is the name in your name...........lol you have any relatives in Pohdunk MN =))

Stink (my eldest son) says that they are pretty sure it will be ok but we here in Pohdunk have had rain since 3 pm and we have lived in MN for 14 years and I've never seen running water over our highway 71 like there was today on my way to town........

I know the college kids in Fargo enjoyed the day off to sand bag........UND in grand forks is not so nice to their college kids they had to go to school.....I hope there is no devistation when I'm up in GF on saturday but hopefully some good photo shots

my son texted me yesterday on his way back from class and said he saw the funniest thing he has every seen.... some "old ND lady walking in the rain and flippen off all the cars that passed her"...........I think she was getting soaked.......I asked him why he did not take a pic for me..........he told me he doesn't drag his camera everywhere with him like his mom.......I reminded him his cell phone which he DOES drag everywhere has a camera on board.................kids

Update. The farm I was raised on did flood, but it did not get high enough to get to the main floor, just the basement, so damage is minimal. Here is a picture I just got taken by a neighbor who flew over with a private plane (79KB original so minimal definition). It's North of Grand Forks, ND, where the land is almost totally flat. I imported it to CS3 and did auto-levels.
