Five months ago Max got a little sister, Rylee.

Yesterday, Max's mommy and daddy brought Rylee to see me for some spring pictures in the studio. While Rylee had fun and was a brilliant 5 month old...

... Max was at home alone and sad that he didn't get to come play too. Max loves to play with our dogs, Lexi and Bridgette and absolutely lives to chase our cat, Onyx (I think Onyx secretly loves to torment him).

At the end of our session I told the parents to get Max and we'd try some baby and dog shots. Big problem, by now Max was VERY excited to get to come play and well.... was ridiculous to work with. Because he's so big it takes him a minute or two to lie down and every time we got him down he'd suddenly jump up to go sniff something or eat something... before we could get Rylee into the scene. His size makes chasing him around the studio a dangerous game. Eventually I gave up. Promised the parents I'd try with Max another time, when we could work with him at THEIR house :D

None of the baby shots with Max are keepers, but this will give you an idea of the size comparison.

Thank you, BB. Rylee was in a great mood yesterday which really made the session go well. I love shooting little ones! :)

I'm particularly taken with the mirror images - that must be a huge mirror! The bunny ears is just too funny.

The mirror isn't huge, but pretty big (about 3' X 3'). Its one of the builder-grade mirrors normally glued to a bathroom wall. I removed it from one of my bathrooms last year and it became a studio prop. Its thick enough to not worry about when moving it around and has smoothed edges for safety. I've used it with several seniors, brides and babies.

And here I was, expecting shots of the bunny ears ON a drooling, 165lb dog :) Great shots, and next time you'll need to let Max have his playtime first and wear him out, eh?

Yeah, great idea to get Max good and tired before we shoot again. Also a great idea to try the bunny ears on him!! :D
