		| | Am in the final throws of purchasing a D70. I can buy one with a 28-80 'D' lens in the high street for a little over £800. My A1 is currently on Ebay and I'd hope to get around £400 for the lot.
An Ebayer is offering his D70 with a Sigma 28-300mm for my A1 and £400. He reckons the lens retails for £180.

Sound like a good deal? Should I go for this or stick with the high street and take my chances on the A1 selling for a good price? I would probably make more use of a longer lens than the kit lens (but would need one)

		| | well considered the pound is 3 times the value of AUS dollar, that makes it about $1200 for camera and lens.
The camera and base nikkon lens retails for a package price of $2300 here. Sounds like a good deal to me.

		| | Sigmas Canon-mount version of that lens is about $300 US. it's pretty sharp, and fast enough at lower focal lengths...a little slower when zoomed, but that's par for the course.
 I've been happy with it.

		| | I'd always prefer to buy lenses and cameras from a retail outlet where if summin goes wobbly I can change it, especially as they are precise pieces of engineering. |

		| | I'd also suggest getting the camera from a retailer. The D70 is new enough that there are some *minor* production issues. Also I'm not sure how the warrenty works if you transfer it between owners.
I'm using the kit lens and like it just fine. :)

		| | Thanks for the input folks. I thought long and hard at work today about this and think I should stick with a retailer (I guess the warranty is an important issue).
Now I'm torn between the 'G' lens and 'DX' lens (again), I think I'll wait to see what the A1 fetches before ordering one :)
