From a counter that I use for my homepage, I came across this which estimates how popular a link is.
I tried "//www.dpchallenge.com", and here is what I got:
Date: 2009-03-10
URL: //www.dpchallenge.com
AllTheWeb: 48900
AltaVista: 49200
Google/AOL: 773
HotBot/Inktomi: 0
MSN Search: 0
Yahoo: 131855
Try it out, its fun:-) .. though it doesnt seem to catch the php calls that we make to get to someone's profile.. so individual profile popularity is still ambiguous I think.

I think so.
For example, this is what comes up for google.com:
URL: www.google.com
DATE AllTheWeb AltaVista Google/AOL HotBot/Inktomi MSN Search Yahoo Total

Not sure it they are search counts from different search engines, or some other metric.

Alexa is the one I use.
Top 5 according to them:
1 - Yahoo
2 - Google
3 - Youtube
4 - Live.com
5 - MSN

You can add a file to your website that will track traffic better, and therefore probably give you a better ranking. |
