I've been using lightroom since it came out way back when. All of my captures from my Sony A700 look blown out on lightroom - I finally got around to installing Image Data Converter that was supplied with the camera and I was DISGUSTED to find how much lightroom 2 is brutalizing my RAW images. I am even using adobe standard beta 2 for the camera profile - and have not been able to find a specific profile for the A700.

I have included a screenshot of what I'm talking about. If you have any solutions please let me know because I love working with Lightroom.

the screenshot was non-edited whatever came up when first imported.

Scroll down this page for version release info on Sony software; Dyxum: New Section (I mention it because sounds like you installed the original software rec'd with camera).

Some discussion of LR here that sounds related to your concerns:

Thread 2 (read Kiklop's post on 28 February 2009 at 07:39).

I tried LR for awhile (30 day trial) and loved the keywording & categorizing, but didn't like the way Sony RAW files were handled either. Ended up going with SilkyPix most of the time now for RAW files, and check Sony IDC on images that are important to me. Sony IDC is the only one that really handles any A700 photos taken using the DRO+ Adv Levels (if you haven't tried that yet, or didn't like the noisy results of say level 3-5, check it out now with the updated software version and A700 v4 firmware.

Thanks! I didn't think of dyxum for the info.
