I know dpchallenge is all about photography, but I have been trying to find out more about video cameras and they don't seem to have any good sites like still cameras do! So I turned to one of best sites (if not the best site) I know of.
First off, bear in mind that I have an slr and all but the new needs I am facing were brought on by the upcoming birth of my first son :) *wohoo!* lol

Anyhow, I am looking for something that is first and foremost capable of good quality video. I am looking for something smaller than my SLR as the size and weight is a limiting factor. Waterproof also is an almost must (for the simple reason that I want to be able to bring it to the pool and canoeing and such... that and kids can be messy or so I have heard :p). The second thing is I want to be able to take decent pictures so what I am wondering is should I go for a compact still that takes videos or a video camera that takes still? which is the best compromise?

In videos cameras I am currently looking into these cameras.
I am looking at the panasonic SDR SW20
