What? You're not going to let us shoot you this year????

I didn't know I was that photographically interesting. I don't know what say now.

That would be a cool twist to the day!

Just checking this out. Not sure yet if I could make it, but it looks like it could be fun. For those seeking Mapquest-style directions, I think you want to enter "Sugarloaf, PA" as the destination, right?

The closest towns are actually Fairmont Springs and Benton. Try this link for a MapQuest map of our meeting place.

As opposed to meeting someone not in person ;-)

On another note, would anyone have any interest in checking out Steamtown on Saturday?

I got Saturday and Sunday off of work, so I'll be up there sometime Saturday afternoon.

What's Steamtown?
05/09/2009 01:55:19 PM · #84
Steamtown NP, in Scranton PA. An old train museum - steam engines etc.

I keep forgetting to make hotel reservations. I should probably do that.

How far is Steamtown from the GTG? If not too far I might tag along. I've always wanted to go there.

While this thread has been bumped... I wanted to ask other folks to post what they can bring for the picnic. I'm editing my original post in this thread to reflect what people have stepped forward to contribute so far, and I'll keep that updated so we can have a well-balanced meal of some sort :)

Just to reiterate, too... I'm going to head up there sometime on Saturday. I expect to be there sometime mid or late afternoon, and I would certainly enjoy hanging out with anyone who gets into the area that day, too! Send me a PM if you want my cell phone number so we can meet up. Sunday is the "official" GTG day... I'm excited about it -- I'll look forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new folks!

Alan, put me down for at least paper plates and cups for now.

And I plan to be up there sometime Saturday afternoon. I think I have your cell # already.

Cshell will be there too.

I'll bring some chips and drinks (soda, juice, water).

I'd love to join ya'll at Steamtown on Saturday, since it's almost in my neighborhood (literally!), but I'm being dragged to a graduation party for one of my girlfriend's cousins. :-(
05/26/2009 05:16:03 PM · #97
As far as I know I'll be joining you all, we have races in NY Friday & Saturday. I'd like to bring something, but don't want it to be something essential JUST IN CASE I don't make it! Any ideas throw em out there :) Or we can wait til it gets closer & see what else needs picked up.
05/26/2009 06:59:54 PM · #98
LindseyxS will be there too.
05/26/2009 07:55:27 PM · #99
I will bring Hot Dogs/Buns/Mustard. I can also bring a small propane portable grill. Having learned my lesson, Im not bringing bagels this year - clearly none of you will ever make it as NYers.

Who is interested in Steamtown on Saturday?
05/26/2009 09:33:36 PM · #100
I will bring my grille again, and a case of water in a cooler packed with ice. I will also make a pasta salad, and will bring trash bags. I'm coming up Sunday A.M. with Lisa, and possibly Eleanor with the boyfriend.....I'll know later on that if he's allowed to go.

I might flash up singly for the day to Steamtown.....is it worth the 2 1/2 hour drive both ways, d'ya think?
