I am thinking about maybe making a move to Pentax because I can get a swinging deal from a Pentax guy that I met. I am thinking that the 20d is a pretty big improvement over my d50 and since I have about $200 in lenses I probably am not loosing much with the switch.

Anyway, who are the Pentax shooters, and are you happy with your cameras?

Am I happy with Pentax, Jason?? Let's put it like this, I was thinking of going back to Canon, but decided that I like my K200D too much and I didn't want two systems. So, I have just invested £650 on a Sigma 150-500mm for the Pentax. Later this year I will get the K20D or the newer model if released. So, I guess I like Pentax a lot. Image quality is really good with good saturation, however you can make adjustments to suit using the simple menus system. SDHC cards are cheap now and the range of lenses from Pentax is on the increase.

So, yes I am happy with Pentax and their cameras, I did have the K100D first as well. Hope this helps you:))

Very happy with my K100D. I have the kit lens...so-so. And the new 55-300DA, very nice indeed. And it's easy to pick up oldy-but-goody K-mount glass and have a ball, pretty cheap.

How has the sharpness been? My nikon even with a 50mm 1.8 has always been soft. I am not sure that something isn't wrong with it. I can shoot something in bright light with a high shutter and still get a very soft image. I am looking for something that will give me a better initial image to work with before I edit in post.

Very happy with my K200D and K100D and a whole bunch of film cameras before that. Been very happy with Pentax glass, and the nice thing about the K20D and other Pentax bodies is that it takes all those legacy lenses which can be picked up on the cheap. $50 for a tack sharp 50/1.7, maybe $100 for a 50/1.4.

Check out Pentax Forums for lots of product info and rumors, and be sure to check out their Photographers Marketplace for a big selection of used glass and other gear.

I don't know much about Photoshop so all my editing is minimal. All my pictures have been resized and USM used at 129 with threshold about 3 and whatever the third one is at 1. That's all I ever do to my shots, but then I could just adjust sharpness in-camera and do away with that process. I haven't tried, but I am sure that the K20D sharpness is much better than the K10D which had bad reports about softness in jpeg and the inability to process it out. In RAW, you will find the photos compare very closely to the Canon 40D range of camera.
