My D100 seems to be recording them as a NEF file.
Just trying to work with RAW (for the first time) and running into some problems. I'm using Adobe PS7.0. Read the help menu to learn "how" to open them. Set the camera to record RAW but it reads NEF(RAW). Took the pictures and once I load them up into Adobe, it's a NEF file and Adobe says....
"Could not open DSC.001NEF because it's the wrong type of file."
I'm just curoious to what I'm doing wrong here? Not sure why the RAW images are being saved as a NEF file and not RAW. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Maybe try to download the latest version of camera raw from Adobe. |

Maybe you have tried this already, but click on the "open as" tab. There should be an option to open as an NEF file under camera raw.

It allowed me to open it through the "Open as" tab. But when I opened it, this is what it showed.
Any thoughts? Thanks again for the help. |

NEF is Nikon's version of RAW. One solution is to go to the Adobe web site, and download their DNG converter. It's free, and converts any camera manufacturer's RAW file into a standardized RAW file. I think PS7.0 should work then. |

Issue
When you open a camera raw file in Adobe Photoshop CS3 or earlier, or in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 or earlier, one of the following error message occurs:
* "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."
* "Cannot open '[file path]' because it is the wrong type of file."
Solution
Check the Adobe website for an updated Camera Raw plug-in.
Your camera model may be newer than the version of the Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in you are using. An updated version of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in may be available that supports your camera. Download the update from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/downloads. Follow the instructions on the download page to install the plug-in to the correct directory. |
