Hello guys. I went from an Olympus C300 zoom to my new minolta dimage 7i (last June) and even though I am very pleased with the photos it takes I am thinking of selling it and getting the Canon 300D for two reasons. 1 I want the option of adding new lenses in the future and 2 I noticed a lot less noise on the higher ISO speed (I have to use my minolta on constant 100). Reeading through some reviews I noticed that the viewfinder in the 300D is optical only so I will assume that when making various adjustments like f/stop, contrast etc you can't tell how the image will come out unlike the minolta's EVF where you get some kind of idea what the image will be like. Is this true?
Could some experienced user tell me the + and - between the diameg 7i and the 300D (the basic) what will I notice different I mean in regards to photo quality and use of settings (more or less)

You will indeed have less noise... and less shutter lag, and less money. When composing a shot on the Rebel, the aperture is always wide open to let as much light through as possible. Pressing the Depth of Field Preview button beside the lens will instantly stop down the aperture so you can see the result through the viewfinder. I don't think contrast is an issue because you'll probably take a few shots to get the setting where you want it, then leave it alone. You can always shoot in RAW then change contrast, saturation, etc. later. |

You think is worth the upgrade? Assuming I can sell my Dimage. I have taken a lot of nice shots with the dimage so I am quite sure I can improve with a dslr camera a little bit, even though I am still learning. What made me more confused in my final choice has been reviews on the Nikon D70 even though at first look I still think the 300D takes slightly better photos and the announcement of the new Minolta Digital Dynax 7 in autumn 2004. With my minolta I only use a few features like Manual mode, bulb exposures, Apperature mode and Shutter mode so all these features the 300D lacks I most likeley never use.
