Cool. I had perused Reinhold's blog- where I actually learned about it all. I'll see if I have any questions- I like the idea of using those chemicals instead, and there's something inherently cool about developing film in coffee :) I'm glad to hear there are a number of folks who have done it before successfully.
We'll see how much time I have to dedicate to film- I have recently received an enlarger (Beseler Printmaker 35) and other goodies that were getting thrown out from a high school, and winter is coming, so perhaps I'll have more inside time.

Thanks for the other links- I'll get to reading them in a bit here.

I found an Olympus XA2 in an antique mall/shop a couple of days ago. $7. Batteries were $12. Film is from tanguera, expired Kodak Supra 400 processed by Target. Huge light leak. Images are from school drop off. My daughter brought a juice for a little boy who broke his arm this past Monday. I didn't know this until they posed together. Odd crops are from my scanner. Auto tone in Lightroom to the whole set.

Great story, fun pictures to tell it, Ben. Thanks! (And tell Abby it was very kind of her to take the juice for the young man with the great smile.)

Hmmm...can't explain that...I'll go check the negatives. But you are right, it's a C41 BW film, I must have the film type wrong. My foggy brain...

ETA: I stand corrected...Supra 400. Which means I have another roll of your film left! :)

An afternoon in the park with the Nikon F65, 28-80mm and Kodak c41 CG 400. Developed in out of date c41 chemicals and I have a tradition of dropping the negatives on dirty concrete after developing before they dry. Seem to do it every time ;(

Expired Afga APX 100 @ 400 in Caffenol CM. Touched up for water spots, dust, and contrast. Love the grain.

best snapshot of the roll

missed the focus, hipshot. It was low light, shot at f/2.8.

Hey, do you home developers also print at home and if so, do you scan the negs?
Bought an old Canon AE-1 at a garage sale and want to know what to do with it, lol. No book and the case is getting gummy! Lens looks great, but need to get a battery to see if it actually works!

Any of you had luck cross processing C41 with caffenol?
What was your recipe?

This may help. AE1 manual, MIT edu.

I have one of the AE1 Program bodies and a few lenses. I used to shoot a lot with an old FTb QL. Canon FD mount lenses are dirt cheap on eBay, because they don't fit anything digital without an adapter. I just finished shooting the first roll of film with the AE since I got it about a year ago, so now waiting until after the Thanksgiving rush to get it developed.
The batteries are available at any ACE hardware, and at any Radio Shack store.
You can check it out somewhat without film by watching the aperture when you trip the shutter, and by listening to the sound of the shutter for shutter speeds.
I hope it works right for you.

Just out of curiosity how much did u pay for your ae-1. I still have mine from back in the day

A quick comment (I'll scan photos in for sharing in a day or two)...

I hadn't taken film in quite some time for processing; out of convenience I used the local Ritz Camera store near work yesterday. Dropped off for the 1 hour (which was really 2.5 hours on their schedule) and was charged $9.99 per roll (24 exposures on each). Dang!

$20 and 2.5 hours later I experienced that pleasure of seeing what you've captured with your camera for the first time (no chimping!). In this case the photos go back 6 years (film was in the camera a long time, LOL!) and they all came out great.

Ok, rather lengthy for a quick comment. Sorry. I'll post photos soon.

$10 for the AE-1. The woman's father carried it all around Scotland as it was his camera and she got it when he passed. Never used one before. I'm old school Pentax! :P
