Well it was started as a joke but since posting this request - my Paypal account has gained $300,000. I'll hand this money over to Anne in a few days.

Seems Annie Leibovitz is in debt and may lose the rights to many of her great photos. I got to this link via another locked one but noticed the others story line not mentioned... she is also being sued for copywrite infringement, so boy is she really hurting now.

My thinking exactly! While I hate to see anyone fall down and slam into the hard pavement of life, she also had choices. We all make our own choices and we all face the consequences. So while yes it is sad, I shake my head at this rather then shed any tears.

| Who cares? It's not yours or my problem. When you think you sit on top of the world and look down on everyone, reality slaps you in the face and then everyone feels sorry for you, if you are known. I have my own problems to worry about as I am sure do the rest of us. I could care less about her problems when I have my own to worry about. The hole has been dug, and she needs to get out of it on her own. My biggest problem with this is the word "proporties", which is plural for more than one. Why she or anyone else needs more than one I just don't understand. Does she really need more than one? Could she not just sell some of these to pay her debt? I don't feel sorry for her in the least. If she would have SAVED some money instead of going out to restaurants that probably cost more to eat at for one sitting than most of us could ever afford, she may not be in a mess as big as she is in now. No sympathy or compassion for these people from me. Instead of pissing the money she had away, she should have been taking care of her financials before she dug this hole. As they say, what comes around goes around. I would only like to know what she did to deserve this. |

Way back at the beginning of this thread I think I voiced my support for this talented photographer.
It seems about time for a reinforcement of that support. Many talented and acclaimed artists have been just awful at financial matters. Left brain? Right brain? Middle one? Who knows. It just happens.
As a photographer I feel empathy for this superb photographer who is so much more talented and who has used her talent for good and to delight and inform. Oh, yes. and to shock, upon occasion.
I am grateful that her creditors have used compassion in the settling of her financial problems.
I also hasten to add that I do not mean aregue or attempt to change the minds of those who feel more drastic measures are needed or that this talented person should be 'toppled from the pedestal' that some have put her on.
Each person has a viewpoint from which to critique others.
I have just expressed mine.
