To keep the scores thread a scores thread, I'm posting discussion about voting styles here...

To that end, I'm treating this as a free study. If it's a good photo, it's a good photo and will get a good score (6+)

I hope others will follow suit (one time only :) ).

Why are you treating it as a free study? There is a stated challenge. To that end, if it's a good photo and it meets the challenge it will get a good score (6+) from me.

If you are referring to the calendar challenge, I agree it is pretty much a free study, since you can get a calendar with almost any subject on it.

I was wondering, though, if some voters may be looking for an image that conveys the month. (For instance, May flowers, or beaches in June)

No... In reading the pre-challenge comments, it's clear that people completely missed the mark as to what this challenge was about. In addition, some of us who clearly got it are being penalized because people are overthinking the description.

I don't think many deliberately submitted DNMC photos -- I think they just didn't get it. As such (and I'm one of the biggest sticklers for challenge theme of them all), I'm just going to give each photographer the benefit of the doubt and just judge on the photo and assume that their subject was either a true puzzle or was puzzling to them.

I guess I will have to go do some voting on that one today and see what is being talked about.

I think my score is so low because of this. I would just like everyone to do as I am on this one and read the title carefully and then view the photo quality and vote based on that. I think mine is quite nice and fits the challenge but man am I getting reamed. As I stated in the other thread the statement "puzzling in nature" could mean mother nature and that's where I went with it but I think many or viewing it as a DNMC. I'll sit back and wait for a validation request.

Well mine is a freakin' puzzle with good technicals and it's sub-five... makes no sense.

WOW. This one is all over the board. With 23 votes I'm at a 4.2 so really no luck for me and I think it will only get worse.
