Thanks to all. It almost seems like I want National Geographic pics on a budget that doesn't allow it. But perhaps I can still improve with a Canon Rebel and a 100mm macro.

I'm getting the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro this coming week, I'll let ya know how I like or dislike it.
