It seems the best camera to IR convert is the D70 or D70s, and I'm wondering if the D100 is comparable. The two were around the same time and are basically the same camera save the extra functions of the D100, right? Same sensor, same guts, etc?
Also, does anyone know how LifePixel calibrates the autofocus to work with specific lenses? Do they just use the AF fine tune function, or what?

Not sure if the D100 has the same sensor as D70`s but the DIY conversion looks the same as what i did with a D70.
When i converted a D70 i was expecting to have to adjust the focus explained here.. There is no AF fine tune, it has to be done manully with a small hex key.
Quite easy to do but my focus was still spot on after i swapped the sensor.
Focusing was good with all my lenses. Not sure that the D70`s are the best for converting but certainly the easiest. |
