Basic Editing....

Super-duper Cindi-editing.....

I always feel so handicapped with basic editing.

I actually like the basic edited one better. It looks like a great pet portrait. It has a little noise to it that i know you were trying to get out, but it looks natural. The second one has too much of an artsy feel to it. I'm assuming you used the paint strokes filter or something to that extent and i think it took away too much detail.

Granted that just comparing them together, because they both look great! And I'm sure if it were some person who brought their dog to you, either of those photos would be up on their wall.

I MUCH prefer the basic editing one.
The "painting" version looks out of focus and is hard to look at.
Sorry :-(

Dissenting opinion... I really like the "painterly" version. It *is* a departure from the photo, but it is a fun image. Of my older images, this one:

is one of my favorites, and it had a similar treatment. Not at all what some people like, but then again art is a matter of taste.

I guess that's why we have options, eh? I actually like the painted version better.... but its my dog, so I'm biased lol
