To those attempting to assist Kelli in her quest, I must warn you that it's not easy. :-)

I did send it right after your pm Sara. I just tried again. Is your ISP blocking it because of the jpg's maybe?

It was in my junk folder - couldn't be more inappropriate considering the quality of the photos! Return email sent, but I'm afraid I haven't been very helpful!

Wendy? Did you get my email?

We have the Canadian Shield, essentially one large slab of granite under 95% of Canada...does that count?

Sigh......

So my open challenge entry has three comments. One is from one of those pedantic challenge interpretation people who not only can't think outside the box, they wet themselves if they get too close to the side of it. The other two popped me for something I did specifically and intentionally as if I was too much of a boob to see what was wrong from a basic technical standpoint.

Some weeks it just ain't worth the bother.....

Remember, Jeb, everyone is at different levels here. You yourself have mentioned several times that stuff you panned early on is now stuff that appeals to you. Everyone has different levels of knowledge, experience, practice, acceptance. Be grateful your picture prompted comments to begin with - it means someone took the time to look at it, think about it, write about what they thought. You don't have to agree - that's never been a prerequisite. And after the challenge is over, you can perhaps invite them to take another look. May not mean much to them now (and be polite about it!) but in a few months, maybe that will stick in their head when another non-traditional shot pops up and they'll start to look a little deeper.

Deb, have there been any developments on finding your records?
06/18/2009 11:06:23 AM · #2190
Yes! As a matter of fact I got a call just before I left work. They are at Ramstein (and no one really knows why they're there) and Ramstein will copy them and send the copy to Wiesbaden. Tomorrow, however, I'll call Ramstein and arrange to go pick them up. Apparently they really want me out of the Air Force because for some reason they'd already slated the records to go to wherever it is records go at the end of their career. But at least they found them!

So many records; it makes you wonder where they all go.

Now on an entirely different note...attended a funeral service today for the partner of my former landlord. I got along with both well, but as I moved out two years ago when I bought my house, saw less of them. She passed away only this past Saturday, a few weeks after being diagnosed with liver cancer. Last time I saw them, approx 2-3 months ago she was still quite happy and healthy. Not the sort to complain about her health problems.

So ever since hearing about her death, just been sort of bummed out, and didn't get any sense of closure today from the service. I felt sad during the service and empty, but didn't cry, nor do I feel the need to. Just feeling kind of weirded out about the whole thing, knowing she's gone, but yet not...distressed I suppose would be the word.

Anyone have any similar experiences?
