OH NO!! That really sucks! |
yeah really! i want to go cry and then smash something |
I'd smash something first, and then cry. Otherwise, you'll feel bad about smashing the thing and have to cry again, making it: cry, smash, cry. |
bahahaha ok, ill keep that in mind. i might make some jello first actually |

*soothing voice* Yes, jello first, snaffly, if that will calm you...but no you may NOT make it electric jello, you aren't old enough yet!
Nothing for basic challenges this week, just not inspired and the construction site I did visit was closed down for the day, so no shots of anything being built :-( However think I have an FS shot that may actually hit 5...oooohhh!
Oh yea got call last night from former elderly landlord, his gf of last 30 yrs passed away Saturday after an illness. Funeral Thursday so will go and try to help with the healing. |

Very good advice! (and by the way, don't smash an unopened bag of potato chips against the wall. The first time, nothing happens, the second time, the bag explodes, and you find out that the first time smashed all the potato chips inside the bag. And the second time sends tiny, little, potato chip shards over the entire house!) |

Ok, finally I get to rant.
Virginia has boring rocks, so I tried to get a different take on the challenge and went to the paleontology department at William & Mary. I knew I was in trouble after sending a couple of photos around to friends and family, trying to decide what to enter. I was getting comments back like "looks more like a fossil than a rock", and "I don't think it fits in a rock challenge..."
So I decided to remind people in the title. "Think about it -- fossils ARE rocks", and I still get "It's a stretch that the main subject (dinosaur remains) is considered a rock." Now, I realize that it wasn't that great of a photo, but with 56 votes of 4 and under, I think there were many people thinking this.
It wasn't a shoehorn--they are rocks!
Ok, rant off. |

You still did better then I did! And I used rocks, and I'm pretty sure it's not a bad picture. At least you got more than a 5. |

Actually, that's pretty cool. I like your shot. And don't get me wrong, if people voted that way because they didn't like the picture, that's fine with me. I'm just shaking my head at some of the extremely narrow definitions. I already heard from someone else in a forum that objects can't be alive. (unusual objects)

I've received notice that I should be collecting - not to mention collating - question for FU Kelli who, by the grace of meyers is suck interviewee next time around.
Fire away, guys n gals, I'm expecting plenty of probing inquest into paleontology and relationship by marriage. Erm - maybe a couple about Kelli, too?

She already knew (I notify the next FU victim before I pick the firing squad).
By the way, I'm still working on my own FU. Y'all didn't give me any easy questions! |

You don't get to bitch about narrow definition 'til you get "DNMC" or "Does not meet the spirit of the challenge." when the challenge details are N/A......8>)

I was worried about that too, one of my outtakes was a fossil. Of course I was questioned as to whether my quartz crystals were a "rock" or a "mineral." Sheesh ... |
