I absolutely love my Rebel, and going from the EOS IV to it was one of the best decisions I ever made, but my ability to point and shoot quickly has been hindered by the on/off switch. Gradually, the switch started giving me resistance, and right now i can't turn the camera on with one thumb, so it's much harder to point, turn on, and shoot on the fly. Does anyone know what's going on? I've had the camera about 4 months, haven't abused it, and never let any liquids come near it at all. Thoughts?
thanks,
- PM (newbie)

i usually turn mine on and leave it on - it will go to sleep - and to bring it back you push the shutter down 1/2 way.

not sure about the stickiness - sounds like sweat and grime buildup - or some sand got in there to jam it.

Peter,

I would strongly suggest that you exercise the warranty on that. It could be that you somehow got some foreign material inside the camera in the switch area but unless you really put it through hell, that should not happen.

Like soup, I tend to leave mine on all the time except when in the bag where something might press on the shutter release and drain the battery, but still, the switch should work easily.
