I knew there was a similiar challenge in the past. But, I see this new challenge concentrates on the Horizon being tilted...!

I love tilted photo's, trouble is, knowing me, I'll try too hard and bomb! |

So I take it that means you will loose points if there is no horizon in your photo!
Grrrr! |

Well, since the challenge is almost over and I'm surely not going to get round to actually shooting the idea I had (I don't have a ladder :-( ), I may as well post the idea and see what people think of it, So here it is:
Take a horizon (no duh), preferably fairly flat with trees along it (we have those a lot in Holland luckily) and a ladder. Lay the ladder down somewhat parallel to the horizon, prop up the far long side, so you can actually see the spokes of the ladder. Line up the ladder with the horizon (leave the trees visible along the ladder), tilt camera and find someone to 'climb up'the horizon. Maybe make it a sunrise/sunset and fill flash the person climbing.
Wonder if anyone else had the same idea, if it's feasable and if it could even make a good picture. What do you think?

I think we'll see several variations of this, especially more so now. :-P |

One thing I'll be looking for in the images which will earn my top score.... the tilt needs to be an enhancement to the scene. Something dynamic about the horizon rotation (or camera orientation) needs to be evident. It's sort of like color images converted to b&w. Some work better as a b&w, some do not. Can't be a gratuitous presentation.

I so agree. I shot today for this challenge and was dissapointed that all of my images seemed like they were only tilted because I didn't know how to hold a camera upright. The tilts didn't serve a purpose in composition, besides maybe to make the viewer wonder if I had a balance disorder. So I went another direction instead. ;)

Yes I agree also!! A tilted image either works or it doesn't> A good one pops out at you straight away as if there could be no other way to compose that shot. On the other hand an image that has been tilted for the sake of tilting is quite awkward to look at, if you know what I mean. |

Great photographs prevail in the face of adversity. It enriched my life to view keegbow's image in the BROWN DJV challenge. I congratulate him on his ribbon. His pathway was clever, not devious. I bow to his accomplishment. |

in regard to this challenge...I'm in and very happy with the shot but we all know how cruel this place can be, sometimes it's better to have low expectations. |

I'll let you know in the morning!......8>)

deviation from the topic in a devious way... i'm not knocking his ribbon rank. was merely poking fun...
