Just build a wooden frame to your size and specs in the shape of a box using plywood, or some other soft wood and then tack white sheets to all sides and cut yourself an opening for the lens. Simple and cheap. |

I was hoping to make one similar to thiers so it can be portable. I think the wire inside is called spring wire. Same stuff that's inside my car's sunshade. Wonder where I can buy some.

What I need to find is some Fiberglass Rods (the ones used for kites) and drape a white bed spread over it. Or, if I want to be ambitious sew loops into the sheet and then I'll have my Light tent.

Look no further....buy some car sunshades, take them apart and you have them.

I purchased this one off ebay....easy to put together...inexpensive...it can be taken apart and put back together again....and, the sheet is already fitted for the frame... works wonderfully and not too small either

That springy wire is available for two or three bucks at most hobby stores, sold as 'music wire' or sometimes, 'piano wire'.
It is available in a large variety of gauges and lengths. If all else fails, try Hobby Lobby, online at: //www.hobbylobby.com

Cool faidoi, thanks for posting this! After I saw the simple, practical design, I'm defintely making this tomorrow. :) I just tore down this wooden monstrosity I made a while back for doing this, and tossed all the cloth, etc., to replace with this design.
And I just realized why it's 23" across... so the standard cardboard backdrop paper will fit (mine is 22").

So I wonder which would be better? Fiberglass rods or music wire
