First, I'll say this is not another "Noise Ninja or Neat Image (or other)" thread. In my case, I am using Noise Ninja (my choice in the NN/NI/etc. wars), but this discussion can apply to any external NR software -- I'm trying to determine the best way to integrate "it" into my LR workflow.

I've read many, many docs and forums ad naseum about the various ways folks use external NR software in their workflow... as well as our own forums here... but didn't see a lot of detail *specifically about workflow integration* in the forums here. Since I trust my buddies here more than random forums I can find with google -- I thought I'd pose the question...

How do *you* integrate external NR software into your LR workflow?

I ask this because --

I had my method pretty-well settled in, where I would "do everything I normally do" to develop my image... then, flatten my LR/ACR NR and sharpening, and round-trip edit the file with standalone NN; applying NR and sharpening there. Alternative (and I only did this to test, as I prefer the round-trip edit, so I can keep and stack the result, then do more processing/resizing/etc easily from LR) being to add NN to an export action and run it then. Either way, it's essentially at the "end" of a typical image's development/tuning.

*Then* (today, hence this thread) I came across something from one of developers of NN (and has been quoted and referred to in other forums debating this very issue) which through me for a loop. He recommends putting NN/NI as your *first* step in RAW conversion, before any other edits (not even exposure, etc). Crud. That changes things around a bit...

So, vote/discuss/expound-upon/blabber/whatever... How do you do it?

For the first person that says "Re-shoot at a lower ISO!" I will waive my paw at you and say "Bah." ;)

[ Edited because we "resize" images... not "rinse" them... not today anyway... unless maybe it's a water dro--- okay, I'll stop now. *sigh* ]
