		| | I am looking to buy a new camera that is somewhat compact, as I am tired of always taking my DSLR everywhere. I currently have a nikon D50 with the kit lense, 18-55mm. I almost always shoot on the wide side of things, so at 18mm. As I understand it, this is actually like shooting at 27mm on a camera with a full size sensor.
So, now I am looking at the Panasonic LX3. It is 24-60mm. Is the 24 actually 24. Will images appear slightly wider that on my D50 with the 18-55mm.

 Thanks for any help.

The 24-60mm for the lens on that camera is the "Full Frame Equivalent" focal length.

The actual focal length is 5.1-12.8mm.

So, yes, they will appear wider than your D5 with the 18-55.
