that's an excellent article. thanks for the post.
I figured out how to do that on accident. I was taking a shot next to my truck at night and I moved the camera while the shutter was still open. Here is the final result after trying a few shots.

You can also zoom in and out as I did for the Abstract challenge.

Doesn't one of the Digital Rebel auto modes do something like this too? Night portrait I think. I haven't played around with much of the stuff below the green box, just above. :^)
