OK if I google dpc or a host of other sites
I get this message under the site saying this site may harm your computer

Is this just me or is any one else seeing that?
I tried to go to one of the pages, still got a warning.
When I get here thru my bookmarks things seem to be fine....

edit:

ok now it is gone... so strange... must of been me

I have been getting this message as well. I don't think it's fixed yet.

ETA. Actually, just tried again and it does look OK. I thought it was my machine.

Wasn't just you. I also saw a report on the notebook forum.

I got the same message on multiple sites this morning, some that I have had bookmarked, and visited for years.

It's possible that some legitimate sites have somehow wound up in an online database of malware? I know Firefox has a database it checks of suspect sites. What browser is everyone using?

No warnings, here, though.

there is some talk about the web2.0's dynamic content being a very easy and open place to run into issues where the actual website itself isn't trying to corrupt your computer - but content that is delivered dynamically from other sources might be/is. think doubleclick ( ad service ) for instance - the websites don't deliver that ad to you - doubleclick does... not to say they are serving up malware - but more the idea of how it works...

but now content isn't added manually in many cases but loaded from some other source.

my guess is that some of these legimate sites are hosting malware inadvertantly...

To expand on this, it's "human error" according to Google:

"The internet search engine works with stopbadware.org to ascertain which sites install malicious software on people's computers and merit a warning.

Stopbadware.org investigates consumer complaints to decide which sites are dangerous.

The list of malevolent sites is regularly updated and handed to Google.

When Google updated the list on Saturday, it mistakenly flagged all sites as potentially dangerous."

I think it's what they call "garbage in, garbage out" :-) Whoever loaded the latest data pushed the wrong button, and millions of end-users were thrust into panic mode. How refreshing! SO much cooler than "just another hack job"...

freaked me out too. Makes my imagination go toward places ... like we are all living ... well it seemed like a glitch in the Matrix. Wherever that takes you.

Here's the official explanation from Google In a nutshell, they say it was human error andthe url of "/" was accidentally checked, which the software expanded to apply to every single URL.
